EDUCATION
The animal community in NL and Lab, as well as , all across North America face many serious and challenging problems. We are faced with pet overpopulation and not enough homes to accomodate them. Thousands and thousands of dogs and cats are euthanized every day because someone didn't take pet ownership seriously and have their pet spayed or neutered. Puppy mills operate with little or no thought to what proper animal care entails.....they just care about making money!! What about that dog at the end of a chain? Why is this allowed to happen? Eight US states are currently lobbying for laws against tethering dogs for life.....way to go! We need major changes and updates to Animal Cruelty Laws.
Though education and determination changes can be made!
What is a puppy mill?
A puppy mill is a large breeding operation that breeds dog for no other purpose than to make money. Dogs are bred every heat cycle with little concern for their health and well-being. Puppy mills have less than adequate, filthy living conditions. Dogs never see a vet and live in misery for their whole lives.
Puppies from puppy mills are sold to auctions and end up in pet stores all across North America. Canada has puppy mills spread out all across the country, some 400 operating in Ontario, Quebec being the puppy mill Capital of Canada. The next time you see that puppy in the window at the pet store, think for a minute about where it comes from.
Below you will see a picture of a special baby girl, a Maltese named Hope. She was my inspiration for this page. Rescued from a mill in Nebraska at the age of 6. Hope now lives a fantastic life as a

She is now 11 years old.

THE CRUEL REALITY
The link below shows a video on the cruel reality of irresponsible pet ownership. Be a responsible pet owner and have your pet spayed or neutered. Hundereds of thousands of dogs and cats die in shelters every year because there are not enough homes. PLEASE SPAY OR NEUTER!!
